Behind Every Expedition Is a Story Worth Telling
The most memorable part of an expedition is rarely the summit. It’s not the flag in the snow or the wide shot of a mountain ridge. It’s the moment someone realises they’ve packed the wrong gloves. It’s the quiet panic when the stove won’t light. It’s the tired joke shared in a storm. These are the moments that stay with you – and with your audience – long after the final shot fades to black.

At Fieldcraft Studios, we’ve spent the past decade filming storytelling projects and expeditions on every continent. From the depths of West Papua to the heights of the Himalayas, we’ve been there to capture not just the spectacle, but the struggle. For the last ten years, we’ve been the expedition film crew for Sir Ranulph Fiennes, documenting the reality behind the world’s most ambitious challenges – science, conservation, exploration and sheer human grit.
But what people always want to know is: how?
How do you go to the toilet in Antarctica? How do you boil pasta in a blizzard? How do you carry 100 kilos of kit up a glacier – and still film it all with frozen hands?

It doesn’t matter whether you’re on a research vessel in the Southern Ocean, in the jungle collecting data, or on an expedition across polar ice with Ran Fiennes. The personal stories are what bring it all to life. When we connect with the people behind the science, we care more deeply about the science itself. When we see the exhaustion, the resourcefulness, the persistence, we start to understand what’s really at stake. Emotion leads to connection. Connection leads to meaning.
We are experts in telling those real, authentic stories. We put the real stories into reels and stories. Content that cuts through the noise, builds trust and sticks with people.

Think about the behind-the-scenes section at the end of a David Attenborough series. The snowed-in camera crew. The failed attempts. The raw humanity. Everyone watches those. Everyone talks about them. Because that’s where the truth is. That’s where the magic happens.

At Fieldcraft Studios, we believe storytelling is more than just showing what happened. It’s revealing how it happened – and why it mattered. The story behind the story is the one people always remember. It’s the one we’re here to tell.

And as for going to the toilet in Antarctica? It involves a bag (with a strong seal) and well-organised transportation off the continent.
You’ve got the story. We’re the trusted team to tell it right – anywhere in the world.
At Fieldcraft Studios, we specialise in behind-the-scenes storytelling that brings depth, emotion and authenticity to every project. Whether in the field, the lab or the boardroom, we uncover the human stories that drive science, exploration and conservation forward.
With over a decade of experience filming on every continent – including as the long-standing expedition crew for Sir Ranulph Fiennes – we’re trusted to go further, dig deeper and capture the story behind the story. Because that’s the part people remember. We can do it for you too – get in touch.
